Cooking Tips and Tricks

  • Mise en Place - a French term that means to have all of your ingredients ready and your equipment in place in order to efficiently prepare your dish. Do this, it makes things a lot easier
  • If you are clumsy (like me), get a cut-resistant glove when you are doing your slicing and dicing. This has definitely saved me some stitches
  • Anything that you want crispy whether it’s meat, seafood or vegetables - pat dry with a paper towel before cooking
  • If you have the time, salt meat prior to cooking and place it in the fridge on a rack for at least an hour (overnight is even better). This will draw out the excess water which helps with browning when you roast or grill
  • Cook your meat at room temperature
